Standard 1 Day Course
Duration 7 hours (typically 9.00am to 4.00pm)
Training Ratio 1:1 or 2:1
The typical structure of this course would be:-
Vehicle Checks
Introduction to the aims and objectives of the course
Discussion about risk management and the dangers of driving
Short Assessment Drive by Delegates
Discussion about Assessment Drive
Demonstration Drive by Trainer
Discussion about Demonstration Drive
Delegates to Drive receiving ongoing training and development
Discussion / Course Debrief
Completion of Written Assessments
This would be tailored according to the findings of the initial assessment.
The best ratio for this course is 1:1
The delegate then has the undivided attention of the trainer all day.
They get a considerable amount of training, and plenty of opportunity to put it into practice on a wide variety of road types, and have the skills being developed fine tuned and corrected as appropriate.
The course does still work reasonably well with a 2:1 ratio, but there is obviously less time available for each delegate.
A written report will be provided, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, a risk assessment, and any recommendations regarding further training.
